We are delighted to share that the Rainbow Centre has received a GREEN (Good) rating following our recent Quality Assurance visit from BACE (Barnet Active Creative Engaging Holidays)!
The inspection, which took place during one of our busy holiday sessions, highlighted exactly what we strive for every day: a warm, welcoming, and child-centred environment where children feel safe, happy, and engaged.
A Thriving, Happy Atmosphere
With 23 children in attendance during the visit including 12 BACE-funded children the assessors noted that the atmosphere was “relaxed, welcoming and positive.” Children were observed confidently engaging in activities, interacting well with staff, and most importantly having fun! From football and dodgeball to bag decorating and Uno, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
What Parents and Children Said
Perhaps the most rewarding feedback came directly from the young people themselves. Their voices were overwhelmingly positive:
One 9-year-old shared: “She really enjoys the creative bag design activity and the food is yummy.”
A 13-year-old told us: “I go to Steve whenever I feel worried.”
These words mean the world to us and are a testament to the trusting relationships our dedicated team builds with every child who walks through our doors.
A Commitment to Healthy Eating
The inspection team also praised our commitment to healthy eating highlighting it as a “particular strength.” Our team prepares nutritious, home-cooked food on-site daily. During the visit, children enjoyed fish fingers, beans, and vegetables, with fresh fruit and water available throughout the session. We believe that good food fuels happy minds and bodies!
Working Together with Families
We are incredibly proud of the strong relationships we have built with our families. The report praised our use of communication, regular surveys, and ongoing conversations to ensure we are always listening and responding to your feedback. It is wonderful to know that so many children return to us week after week because they enjoy their time here so much.

I’m so proud to be a part of the Rainbow Centre. This is an amazing acknowledgment of the work being done at grassroots level, to provide local children with healthy meals and fun activities and to give their parents a break.
This could not be done without our wonderful team, led by Steve and Sarah and backed up by Luca the chef, and our young leaders. Good food feeds the soul and the mind as well as the stomach!
