Junior Leaders
We’re thrilled to introduce you to the captivating world of our Junior Leaders program! If you’re aged between 13 and 16 and reside in the Dollis Valley Estate and its neighboring areas, we have something tailor-made for you.
Junior Leaders is a youth development program that offers an enriching experience throughout the year. We hold meetings every two weeks during term-time and engage in volunteering activities. During holidays, we embark on exciting journeys of discovery.
Our program is designed to enhance your confidence, nurture essential life skills, and foster a strong sense of responsibility. We’ll delve into workshops covering personal development, conflict resolution, and public speaking. Sessions are interactive, combining guided learning, role play and team-based activities.
But there’s more! Junior Leaders actively engage in planning and peer reflection, contributing to the heart of our centre’s activities. As participants, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore external training in areas such as sports coaching and first aid.
In addition, Junior Leaders play a crucial role in our community. As volunteers, you’ll be part of our lunch club activities during holidays, bringing joy through engaging activities and mentoring.
Some highlights of what our Junior Leaders have achieved include:
- Creation of an engaging youth notice board
- Collaboration on the London Youth Bronze accreditation
- Writing book reviews to showcase their creativity
- Participating in an NFL training session at Allianz Park
- Taking part in a memorable residential experience at London Youth’s Hindleap Warren outdoor activity centre
- Becoming MathsMakers and leading sessions
- Completing an ABAE non-contact boxing tutor award
- Running a stall at the 2018 Barnet Christmas Fair based on the BBC’s The Apprentice
