Big Thanks to Barnet Homes & Vallectric

The Rainbow Centre Barnet is thrilled to announce a generous donation of £3,000 from Barnet Homes and Vallectric. Last week, Michelle McGovern presented a cheque to our Director, Steve Verrall, in the presence of our dedicated Foodbank staff and volunteers.

This significant contribution will support both our Foodbank and Lunch Club initiatives, which are vital to the community we serve. Currently, our Foodbank assists over seventy families each week, with new attendees arriving every Thursday. This increasing demand is a direct result of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Each family receives enough food for three days, including one complete meal. We strive to include as many fresh vegetables and fruits as possible, such as potatoes, onions, carrots, bananas, apples, and oranges. Our weekly deliveries often include fresh produce, dairy products, meat (when available), and various store cupboard essentials.

The Lunch Club operates during every school holiday, including half terms, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Each session offers a nutritious two-course meal cooked on-site, along with a variety of art and craft activities, games, and outdoor fun. Activities range from obstacle course races to football and basketball competitions. Additionally, we provide puzzles, giant table games, and a cozy book corner. Regular workshops feature dance, circus skills, mosaic designing, and art, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Children can also participate in food-making activities, allowing them to bring their culinary creations home.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Barnet Homes and Vallectric for their incredible support. This donation will have a significant impact on the lives of those who rely on our services, helping us to continue providing essential assistance and joyful experiences to the community.
